Specialist Centres

The NICE Improving Outcomes Guidance requires Cancer Networks to work with NHS Commissioners to consider the diagnostic pathway which patients with suspected sarcoma should follow and to nominate specialist treatment centres for sarcoma.

In addition National Specialist Commissioning in England identifies specialist centres for the primary treatment of bone sarcomas. These centres offer a national service.

The map links detail the centres in England and Wales which have been nominated under the terms of the NICE IOG. It also lists the centres identified by the NHS in Scotland. The Mutlidisciplinary Team at each centre may have associated clinics at local hospitals run by local oncologists. These provide diagnostic services, adjuvant therapy and follow-up services, sometimes including chemotherapy for advanced disease.
